Kira is a hapa girl with roots in Hawai‘i and Japan. She has spent her entire life training around the world with Ojisama and Tutu man in Hawai‘i. Finally, she is allowed to attend school as a pre-med at the Univerist of Hawai‘i. To further her education she also becomes a paramedic intern.

Kira thinks she will have finally have a life of her own. Her grandfathers have other plans: Tutu takes her aside one day and pulls a bundle from his closet; During break Ojisan brings her to Japan to meet the Emperor! Her responsibilities are far greater than anyone would ever want!
