Pualani and the 3 Manō

3 hungry sharks move into their dream home, a condo in the sunken remains of a super aircraft carrier. Just before dinner, they go for a paddle around the depths.

Surfing prodigy Pualani wipes out in a massive swell, sending her to the bottom of the sea. Following her stomach she stumbles upon the motherlode- 3 plates of gastronomic delights just waiting to be devoured in the home of the sharks.

Appetites collide in Devin Oishi's first children's book based on the classic 3 Bears. Set in Hawaii, the indelible watercolors and prose illuminate Oishi's wild imagination while showcasing Hawaii's unique culture and dialect.

A joy for all ages, Pualani was written with older kids and adults in mind with its rich vocabulary and the island vernacular (I wrote 'em in pidgin).

Pualani is now in its secon edition. I added a few pages to more closely follow The Three Bears and make it easier for new readers to follow the story. I also digitally remastered some of the images to make them cleaner and easier to see.

Pualani is available at The Japanese Culture Center of Hawaiʻi Gift Shop, Native Books and Things and Book Ends in Hawaiʻi and Amazon everywhere.

If you want a hard cover, I made a shutterfly album:

If you decide to get the shutterfly album I would wait for a 50% off coupon. I had to edit the text to fit in the size constraints of the album format.  I make no money from Shutterfly products but I do get royalties from Amazon.

Pualani has been translated into Japanese. I am hoping for a Hawaiian translation and perhaps other languages down the road.
